Lord, Fight My Battles
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” —Exodus 14:14
Life often brings challenges, enemies, and trials that we cannot overcome by our own strength. Yet God assures us that when we humble ourselves, kneel in prayer, and trust Him, the battle belongs to Him. He fights for those who surrender, protecting, guiding, and delivering them according to His perfect will.
As we kneel in prayer and lower our pride, we invite Christ to rise in our lives. “Lord, may I decrease as You increase.” This posture of humility acknowledges that God’s power, wisdom, and protection are far greater than anything we can muster alone.
Consider the Israelites at the Red Sea, trapped and surrounded by danger. God’s command was clear: do not fight—stand still, and watch Him deliver. In the same way, when enemies, spiritual attacks, or those who seek to harm or shame us appear, we must remember that the Lord fights for us.
This surrender does not mean passivity. It means praying, trusting, and walking in obedience, while God works mightily on our behalf. As we kneel, He rises. As we surrender, He conquers. As we confess our weakness, His strength shines through.
Saints have exemplified this truth. St. Michael reminds us of God’s angels fighting in our spiritual battles. St. Joan of Arc trusted God’s call to fight, not in her own strength, but empowered by Him. Countless saints testify that victory comes when we let God take charge of our struggles.
You can always ask yourself these questions and meditate deeply in your own life.
1. What battles in my life am I trying to fight on my own instead of letting God fight for me?
2. Do I approach prayer with humility, acknowledging my dependence on God’s strength?
3. How can I cultivate a heart that decreases so that Christ may increase in my life?
4. Do I trust that God’s timing and power are sufficient to overcome every enemy and trial?
5. How can I practice stillness and faith, knowing that the battle is the Lord’s?
Lord Jesus, I kneel before You and surrender my battles into Your hands.
Fight for me against those who seek my ruin, those who aim to shame or harm me.
Grant me humility to decrease, that You may increase in every area of my life.
Teach me to trust Your timing, Your wisdom, and Your power.
May I stand in faith, knowing that the battle belongs to You, and that victory comes through Your mighty hand.
Amen.
Go forth with courage, knowing that the Lord fights your battles.
Let His strength defend you, His presence protect you, and His love guide your steps.
Walk humbly, pray faithfully, and trust that He who fights for you will never fail.
Amen.
Kneel and pray, O faithful heart,
Let God’s power from you not depart.
Decrease, O soul, let Christ arise,
He fights your battles, stills your cries.
Enemies may plot, storms may rage,
Yet the Lord’s hand shall set the stage.
Your trust, your prayer, your humble plea,
Shall summon Christ’s authority.
Stand not in pride, nor fight alone,
The battle’s His, His will be shown.
Let mercy reign, let courage bloom,
As God delivers from all gloom.
All strength is His, all honor due,
Let Christ increase as you renew.
Kneel in faith, release your fears,
For the Lord fights for you through the years.
