One Day at a Time
Maybe life was always meant to be lived in smaller pieces—not in decades, not in years, not even in months, but in days. One day at a time.
Jesus Himself reminds us: “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34). God does not ask us to carry the burden of a lifetime all at once. He only asks us to walk with Him today.
You don’t need to figure out how you will survive the next ten years. You just need the grace to make it through this day. Wake up, breathe, pray, and take the first step. Get through the morning. Get through the afternoon. Get through the night. And when tomorrow comes, God will meet you there with fresh mercies: “The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning” (Lamentations 3:22–23).
This is how the weight becomes bearable—by entrusting each moment to the Lord. This is how you keep moving without being crushed by the thought of forever. Step by step, moment by moment, grace upon grace.
The beautiful thing is, when you live this way, the picture of your life slowly forms on its own. You don’t need to know every detail right now. You don’t need to see the whole map. Each step you take with God builds the path beneath you. Each day you surrender and survive becomes part of the story He is writing through you.
Life doesn’t demand that you figure it all out. It only asks that you keep walking with faith. And maybe—that’s more than enough.
POETIC BIT OF IT
Life is not meant to be lived in decades,
nor in years,
not even in months.
It is meant to be lived day by day.
For each sunrise brings its own grace,
and each sunset its own peace.
Tomorrow is not promised,
and yesterday cannot be changed.
What we have—what God gives—is today.
So walk gently, one morning at a time.
Breathe deeply, one evening at a time.
Carry your cross, one step at a time.
For His mercy is new with each dawn,
and His strength arrives when the step is taken.
You need not see the whole road ahead.
The path unfolds beneath your feet.
The great tapestry of your life
is woven thread by thread,
stroke by stroke,
day by day.
Do not fear tomorrow—it has not yet come.
Do not be crushed by forever—it is not yours to bear.
Instead, walk with God now,
in this moment,
in this heartbeat.
For this is enough.
This is grace.
This is life—
one day at a time.
